I am an internationally-published writer and cover model, a fitness and nutrition expert and coach, professional athlete, active wear designer, competition bikinis designer, and founder of Team Edge (the hottest NPC/IFBB fitness competition team). I am a MOTHER and a WIFE. Like so many of the people I meet, I faced some adversity and challenges growing up. Rather than defeat me, they have become a source of strength and have helped me to become the person, professionally and privately, that I am today.
I get so many messages and emails about Glute training and exercise tips, so I decided to video tape a glute workout and share it with all of you.
Glutes are one of my favorite muscle groups to work. Before my pregnancy I use to lift very heavy, but I am not back to full strength yet. These are a few exercise that I enjoy doing and I hope you enjoy them as well. Check out the pictures and video below to get tips on how to do the exercises!
Living in sunny southern California, I get to reap the benefits of being able to exercise outdoors almost year round. There are so many ways to get a great workout in outside of the gym. Being only 15 minutes from the beach, I have spent many days running on the beach, doing plyometrics in the sand and I can’t forget about my favorite “the sand dune workout”. A great hike in the local mountains is another great form of exercise, not to mention you get to enjoy the beautiful nature. Lifting weights inside the gym is only one form of exercise. There are many ways to get a great workout without stepping foot in a gym. Get creative and get outside!!!!
This article is directed to those that have just started taking care of themselves and are trying to create a healthy lifestyle.
Since I have been involved in the fitness industry I often meet people that lack healthy habits and they’re not achieving the results they want because of it. The majority of people are absorbed by stress and lack of time, lack of time to eat, taking care of themselves, etc. If this is your case, you have come to the right place. I can work with you to find a solution, it is never too late.
One of the things that has always set me a part from the rest of the women I competed against is my winning mindset. Now that I am a coach this is an essential part of the training I give my girls. A winning mindset provides you with an edge over all your competition, regardless if you’re onstage or at your job.
We all know how good stretching is for you, and it feels great, too! That’s why I created this short and effective full-body stretching routine that you can follow whether you’re a beginner or an advanced exerciser. The other fantastic part is you can do it anywhere, at any time! Remember to warm up first and never stretch to the point of pain. Hold each stretch listed for 15-30 seconds, repeating two or three times, depending on how you feel.
I know for some of you money can be really tight and the thought of getting a gym membership, or buying some exercise equipment seems impossible. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t get the exercise we all need to be healthy! In fact there are many workouts you can do at home with no equipment at all, some of them you can even do while watching TV!
Staying motivated is a constant struggle for all of us – our will and drive is continually assaulted by negative thoughts and anxiety about the future. We will all experience doubts and depression in our lives, it’s impossible to avoid. But how we choose to cope with these moments and move past them is essential. We need to teach ourselves how to keep moving forward.
Sadly, there is no quick and easy solution to lack of motivation. This is because even if you defeat it, the exact same feeling returns at the first sign of failure. The key is, understanding your thoughts and how they drive your emotions both positively and negatively. By beginning to create and nurture positive thoughts, and ignore the negative ones, to focus on the task at hand you can stop this harmful cycle before it gains any sort of strength or momentum.
For years low-carb diets have been all the rage, to tell you the truth I’m not a fan of these types of fad diets. Our bodies and our brains need carbohydrates to work effectively. I’m not saying it’s in your best interest to eat any kind of food that contains carbs, because not all carbohydrates are created equally.
There are so many benefits in eating a protein rich diet. Did you know that a growing body of research suggests that eating more protein, in the form of lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs, legumes, nuts and low-fat dairy food, can safely promote weight loss and reduce your risk of heart disease.
One study found that overweight men and women who followed a low-fat, high-protein diet for six months lost nearly 4 kg more, on average, than members of a similar group who ate a low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet. One of protein’s key benefits is that it may leave you feeling satisfied longer than carbohydrates do, so you eat less.
My husband Joe likes to poke fun at me for the size of my purse whenever we’re out with the boys. We always have a good laugh when he asks if I managed to wedge the kitchen sink in with everything else I packed away in my purse.
A lot of husbands don’t seem to realize that when you have children, in my case twin boys, there are a lot of essentials you need to fit into your purse regardless of how long you are going to be out. The more things you cram in, the larger the purse has to be.
